When it comes down to professional sports, baseball is America's sweetheart. The sport has seen the nation through dark times and stayed with it. The first professional baseball games were held during the Civil War in the 1860s. Even during world wars, several major league baseball teams were in the military, training the troops and organizing drills. In World War II, many players from the major leagues served in the military.

Coming in second place on our list is this movie based on the book written by Michael Lewis.
In this drama, Brad Pitt, who plays Beanne, manages a major league baseball team, the Oakland A’s. One day, he realizes that traditional baseball is flawed on many levels and embarks on a heroic mission to revamp his team. Though constrained by a limited budget, Beanne sets out to outsmart the richer clubs.
Alongside Jonah Hill, who plays Peter Brand, he flouts old traditions by recruiting players with huge potential to win games but were tossed aside by scouts for being flawed.
The critically acclaimed movieField of Dreams differs from regular baseball movies. It’s a beautiful, heart-melting movie that emphasizes family and togetherness.
In the movie, the main character, Ray, played by Kevin Costner, hears a voice one night telling him to turn his farmland into a baseball diamond so that the ghosts of great baseball players can return to play. But Ray would soon understand there’s more to the field than creating a space for past baseball icons to play.

The movie stars Garry Marshall as some celebrity wannabe who funds an all-female professional baseball league. It’s all female because it is set during World War II when athletic men were very few.
Tom Hanks also appears as a grumpy coach, Jimmy, who has seen better glory days. Geena Davis and Lori Petty play the annoyingly competitive sisters, Dottie and Kit.

Another biography worth watching, Fear Strikes Out, tells the story of Jimmy Piersall, who was forced by his baseball-obsessed father to play from childhood.
Compelled to live out his father's dream, Jimmy has to eat, breathe, and sleep baseball obsessively. Eventually, he becomes a star baseball player, achieving his father's goal. But he falls off the wagon shortly after that, and the possibility of him returning to sort things out drastically.
The movie is epic, insightful, and poignant. If you are one of those obsessed baseball fans, you might want to keep your box of tissues close by.
Coming in at number eight isDamn Yankees, a musical comedy. Even the title could give you a good laugh.
Joe Boyd, a fan of the Washington Senators, wishes the Yankees would lose with the same intensity. Cue Applegate, who makes Boyd an offer to become the next Joe Hardy, a youthful baseball player. The payment? Boyd’s soul. He accepts the offer and wins several games for the Senators, but eventually starts to miss his wife and wonders if the deal was even worth it. Enter, Lola…
